Question: Hello Doctor ,
I have strong anxiety issues regarding my hiv test results . Please answer my question with an appropriate answer and best reasoning for my query . I am a male.My age is 28 years( Indian)
I got an oral sex (where I inserted my penis into another male's mouth) on December 2016. After that I got some small pimples on my penile skin . Then in May 2017 (4 months post exposure) I got diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum by seeing physical appearance of pimples by dermatologist in a medical hospital. He also recommended hiv testing which came negative and Vdrl testing which came negative. Then I came to united states for my further studies . In XXXXXXX 2018 ie. 12 months post exposure) where I got tested again for hiv 1 and 2 it was non reactive. I still have some anxiety issues since my molluscum marks still exist and I doubt my lab tests . Should my test result be conclusive?

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV Infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
Thanks for posting your query.
Oral sex carries a low risk for HIV transmission as per CDC, XXXXXXX United States of XXXXXXX
Molluscum Contageosum has nothing to do with HIV infection and can be treated easily with a Dermatovenereologist.
Regarding your test reports : Almost all the HIV tests available in the market are highly reliable to the extent of 97% and above. Moreover you had your first test 3 months after the encounter, which is already crossed the window period. So the result can be taken as a conclusive one. Moreover you had another test after this which also came as nonreactive. This amounts to that you are free from HIV Infection to the extent of 100%
Not to worry and forget about that incident.

Doctor thank you so much for your response. Since past my last test . Within these last 3 years i sometimes develop rashes on my body on itching that could be due to maybe weather changes too. But that is where I always get more anxious that hope its mot something related to hiv and start doubting my lab results . I should not worry at all right . Since I read stuff on internet like lab test could have error or antibody production may get delayed. These things make me more anxious .

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are not related to HIV

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
As you had done your HIV test twice that too after the window period (4-6 weeks, not more than 12 weeks), and both came as nonreactive, there is no question of delayed antibody development. Even with people on immunosuppressive drugs, it will not cross 6 months and in normal people not delayed beyond 12 weeks. So your tests are final and confirmatory. Skin rashes can occur to anybody due to umpteen reasons other than HIV.
So you need not worry about HIV. If you have problem with your skin rashses consult a dermatologist. Not go by Google search.

Brief Answer:
You are free frm HIV 1 and 2 infections.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Different companies are marketting test kits and the manual for test procedures and about the interpretation would be provided with those test kits. Those who are using regularly are well versed in reading the results. Most of the test cards apart from the control slot, others like Ab for HIV 1 and HIV 2 or Ag woud be labled in the test card itself. Here I am not able to see distinctly other than the letters AB & Ab.
Anyhow I am able to see the red band only on the control alot and not any other slots. It means you are nonreactive for HIV 1 and 2.
