Question: Hello Doctor,
I have twins (girls) and they are 4.5 years old. One of them has occasional bleeding in the nose and often when at school she experiences some bleeding in the nose.
Yesterday night all of a sudden she started bleeding from one nose. The bleeding was quite a bit and lasted for several minutes. Morning we checked and could see a cut on one side of the nose (inside), she had not complained of any injury. I've attached picture, can you please check and advice?

Brief Answer:
Epistaxis - nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi...This seems to be a mild picking related injury in the nostril.
Nothing to worry about it.
Many kids who have the habit of nose picking have it.
I suggest -
1. Saline nasal drops 1 drop in each nostril 4- 5 times a day to prevent the dry crusting.
2. Syrup Levocetrizine 3.5ml twice a day for 3 days. But this is a prescription drug please.
Best regards - Dr Sumanth Amperayani
