Hello Doctor, I M At 33 Weeks Of Pregnancy And
Question: Hello Doctor, I'm at 33 weeks of pregnancy and my BP count is 130/90. Is this count normal or do I need to consider medication to pull down the numbers. Please help me on this.
Hi Doctor, I'm at 33 weeks of pregnancy and baby is in upside down position. My Blood Pressure and Glucose levels slightly high (130/90 and 102 mg/dl before breakfast). Considering this my doctor forecasted that these figures would shoot up in coming weeks and medical intervention isn't possible, looks like the chances of baby turning into the right direction/head side down are very thin. But I've witnessed few cases where baby position got changed in 37th week, wondering why this can't happen here as my BP and sugar levels aren't too high, baby growth and weight aren't abnormal either, please suggest/help me on this.
Brief Answer:
Feedback, lifestyle changes, frequent check ups.
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
I welcome you to Ask A Doctor Service
I have understood your concern and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.
First of all do not panic.
Usually, blood pressure above 130 systolic and 90 diastolic, is labelled as high blood pressure during pregnancy, if previous blood pressure readings are less than this level.
I would like to know about few things in detail.
1. Have you done USG obstetrics along with fetal Doppler study, to know about baby's growth parameters and blood flow?
2. Ant other blood tests like renal function tests and liver function tests, hemogram and urine routine examination, serum uric acid etc.?
3. Are you advised about diet and exercise regime?
4. Blood sugar levels fasting and post lunch and HbA1 C?
In my opinion healthy lifestyle changes and regular exercise regime will help to manage your blood sugar levels.
You need to check your blood sugar and blood pressure readings more frequently.
If needed medicines for blood pressure control can be added.
I hope this answer helps you.
Please feel free to communicate with me again.
Thanks.

Hi Doctor,
I truly appreciate your prompt response on my query. I'm done with all other tests mentioned and fortunately the outcomes are quite normal. Only concern is BP being consistent at 130/90 for last couple of weeks and my sugar levels are in check for now, we've balanced it with light dose insulin as prescribed by endocrinologist.
Thanks!
