Hello Doctor, I Recently Had A Complete Physical And My

Question: Hello Doctor, I recently had a complete physical and my creatine level was 1.6, it had been around 1.2 in years past. I immediately reduced my sodium intake by at least half and increased my water intake to at least 100oz a day (I'm a Man who weighs 220lbs.) and lost 5 lbs in 10 days. I had also worked out very hard about 12 hours before the blood test with, in retrospect, inadequate fluid consumption. Can I reasonably expect the creatine level to go down in my next blood test? I also have high blood pressure that I take medication for, my normal reading is now about 130/70. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Probably you should expect a lower level of creatinine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Creatinine is a product of waste from the body. Some of the factors that influence on the increase of creatinine are:
-kidney problems
-consuming a high amount of protein
-intense exercise due to breakdown of your muscles

So, to low the level of creation I would suggest:
-Increase the water intake, such as you are doing. You should drink six to eight 8-Oz glasses of water each day. I would also recommend green tea.
-Avoid intense exercises. I would recommend yoga.
-Regular sleeping is also important
-Maintain under control the blood pressure through medications.

I think that these suggestions will help in lowering the creatinine level.
If the level of creatinine does not get lower in the further measurements you can consult your doctor about prescribed medications that can help.
One of the most common medications used is Ketosteril which is a prescribed medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
