Hello Doctor, My Father Who Is 70 Is Diabetic And

Question: Hello Doctor, My father who is 70 is Diabetic and has BP. He slipped and got hurt his leg hurt by the door stopper. It's been 12 days and the wound has not dried yet. He has been taking few medicines but it still worries me. His recent sugar test had a reading of 149 (Before food) and 205 (After food). The other mistake he did was not taking Tetanus injection the day he got hurt. He missed to take it for some reason. How should I take care of him? We are trying to bring his sugar back to normal. What else can I make to get his wound healed?

Well, at this outset it's advisable to get him examined thoroughly by a doctor, preferably an Internal Medicine specialist (who'll also take care of the blood sugar optimization)...

The wound, that you describe here, could be deep-seated and internal injury possible, which can be only ascertained after a thorough clinical evaluation by the doctor...some further investigations may also be necessary...

Management would be depending on the findings, so please get him examined at first...

Thank you doctor for your response. It's been 20 days since he got hurt. He is being diagnosed at Jindal hospital. Every 2 days he gets the wound cleaned and get it bandaged. In addition if I want to consult a hospital who is good at investigating internal injury of wounds, which hospital would you recommend? I will take him for examination.

As per your description, this seems more like a surgical issue, so better to take him to any Multispeciality hospital where there are Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Dermatology like departments all under one roof...Any good multispeciality hospital would do...
