Question: Hello Doctor, My name is Manish XXXXXXX and i am 21 yrs old. For the few months i am having mild Ichthyosis on my stomach and lower back which starting to show on shoulder. My XXXXXXX has this issue. I never went to doctor and took any treatment. Currently i am using homeopathy medicine Petroleum for 1 month.
I use glycerine soap. I request you to kindly prescribe be some good lotion or medicine. i feel embarrassed due to patches on stomach.

Icthyosis is due to extreme dryness of skin..Skin appears dry and scaly just like fish skin.You may use an intensive moisturizer like Xerina cream or Cotaryl cream which contains Glycolic acid, Urea and lactic acid that helps to retain moisture in the skin and hence also improves appearance of skin. These are prescription products and therefore I request you to kindly contact your local doctor for a prescription regarding the same.

you would have a good response in 3-4 weeks. However, since many Icthyoses have a genetic origin, therefore you may need to maintain the improvement by using the creams regularly, at least once a day.
