Question: Hello Doctor,

My sister is a 22 year old, 7month pregnant, primigravida, with no pregnancy complications till now. But she had an attack of dengue fever(symptoms: high fever 104, joint and muscle ache, shivering due to fever, platelet count was 1.9 lakhs at the time of admission and then 1.6, 1.4, 1.5, 1.22, 1.27 and 1.41 lakhs at the time of discharge, cough for 15 days before dengue and continued during dengue fever). Last week she was admitted into the hospital for dengue for 5days and discharged yesterday. She had a safe escape from dengue with no serious complication.

At the time of discharge, the doctor gave her a shot of PROLUTON DEPOT IM and mentioned in the discharge summary to take it for every15 days.

Also gave her a SUSTEN 300MG tab to take every night at bedtime.

Till now, she is on iron, calcium, B complex supplements, Her previous obstetrician have not suggested her PROLUTON DEPOT & SUSTEN 300 MG TAB.

Actually, these are hormonal drugs, one is used to prevent preterm birth and the other to sustain the pregnancy.

When the hormonal levels are fine, Is it advisable to take these two drugs?

Actually, we are planning to go for a vaginal birth if everything is fine and possible. Fearing that if these kinds of hormonal medicines may prompt for C-section.

Kindly suggest the right solution for this.
