Question: Hello Doctor, My wife is 17 weeks pregnant. She had episodes of spotting during her first trimester due to low placenta, which eventually stopped for a while. Now she had 2 severe vomitings in the last 4 days following which she started bleeding. This seemed more than the usual spotting and had a clot as well. But did not recur after the vomiting episode. Brief Answer:
Get an ultrasound scan done to confirm this.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The mild bleeding that she had was due to stress caused by vomiting. If the bleeding has stopped then there is not much to worry. But it is best to get an ultrasound scan done to check the position of placenta and fetal well being. Avoid all the stressful activities to avoid any such episodes in future.
I hope this answers your query.

thank you doctor, got a scan done. all seems normal.. she was suggested to get admitted, so we did. looks like it's because of the vomitting..post vomiting she gets a slight bleeding that too only when she wipes the area. thank you so much for your assurance. regards, Naveen

Medicines to stop vomiting will help.

Hello.

Taking medicines to stop the vomiting will help in stopping the bleeding. She also needs to avoid any hot and spicy foods. Better to have green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits with milk and pulses to get enough proteins.
