Question: Hello Doctor,

This is regarding the Shoulder pain. My father fall on the floor while running and stuck his shoulder very badly on the floor. This happened around 4 Months back but he is still having pain. His doctor asked to go for MRI. Request for your advice on the MRI report (Attached) if you think this should be resolved through physical therapy. Also, his Vitamin D is very less at 15 when the recommended range is between 75 - 250. Request for your advice if Vitamin D can also be one of the reason for the should pain even after 4 Months.

Thanks & Regards,

Brief Answer:
Local steroid injection can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have sen the attached reports. The low levels of Vitamin D can cause weakness and bone pain but not a specific shoulder pain. He can start with supplements of Vit D 60,000IU once a week for next 8-10 weeks.
The pain in the shoulder is related to degenerative osteoarthritic changes in the shoulder joint. There is evidence of inflammation also. This can be relieved with local steroid injection in the shoulder joint, oral muscle relaxants and a regular physiotherapy. You can consult with an orthopedician regarding these treatments.
I hope this answers your query.
