Question: Hello Dr.Sasanka.
I have a question concerning my prostate
yesterday measured 60 one year before
29.8.
I am 69 years old and have problems to urinate
because there is not enough pressure and most of the time I have to press.
There is one exception after each ejaculation I can urinate shortly after like in my teen years.
Everything perfect.
So I have no explanation for this, maybe you can
My PSA is 5.
Creatinine 1.27
My blood pressure is most of the time in good range
120-130/85-70
Thank you for your time. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Probably benign prostate hyperplasia

Detailed Answer:
Hi Micele9,

Dr. Sasanka is not available at the moment. It sound like benign prostate hyperplasia, where you can use tamsulosine to better urine flow. Do you have a previous PSA for comparison?

looking forward to hearing from you.

Brief Answer:
It is probably related to prostate relaxation

Detailed Answer:
Hi again Micele9,

Sorry about that. One possible explanation is that ejaculation leads to a reflex where the prostate relaxes shortly, and this ultimately leads to a less restricted urine flow, but only for a short while.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.
