Hello. I Just Had Chest Ct Scan To Get A

default

Question: Hello. I Just had chest ct scan to get a baseline as I was diagnosed w/ sjogrens last year. I had a previous abdominal ct scan in 2018 that showed some calcified granulomas in the lower part of my lungs before diagnosis. I saw a pulmonologist recently and he wanted to get a look at the top portion of my lungs. I know nodules are never a good thing.
-How concerned should be at the moment?
-How often are nodules followed? Is it a cat scan every year?
-Do you suggest any other tests that can provide more information?
-Are nodules treated at all, or just followed?

I am attaching both reports from 2018 and today so you can compare. I see my pulmonologist in one month and would like some insight before then. Thank you for your time.

Just realized I had the cat scan in 2019, not 2018. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry at present, just follow up needed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the reports you have attached.

Answer to your 1st question.

At present, you should not worry much. It is not acute lung disease. So no aggressive management needed.

Answer to your 2nd question.

These lung nodules should be followed every 1 year for next 2-3 years.

Answer to your 3rd question.

Yes, every year CT scan should be done for next 2-3 years.

Answer to your 4rth question.

No other test required as such. But if you have breathing difficulty, then pulmonary Function Test (PFT) should be done.

Answer to your 5th question.

Treatment of nodules depends on size and nature of nodules. If they are static in number and size and benign looking then no treatment required only follow up needed.

Please let me know your respiratory symptoms if any present so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thank you for your response doctor Bhavsar. At the moment all i feel is some chest tightness especially on my right side that comes for a few days at a time and then goes away. Its been like this for about two months. That being said, i exercise 5 times per week and have not felt any changes in my ability to breath/stamina etc.
-Are there any less invasive tests besides ct's (such as an mri) that can track the size of the nodule?
-Are there any supplements you would recommend for lung health?
-What are some signs i would notice if i were to start developing symptoms of lung disease?
I know sjogrens can attack the lungs so thats why i am concerned. Thank you.
