Hello, I Am 20 Weeks Pregnant And Developed Diarrhea Yesterday,

Question: Hello,
I am 20 weeks pregnant and developed diarrhea yesterday, worsening in frequency throughout the day. By the end of the day, I was passing both stool and blood. I've had 4 bouts of diarrhea today, luckily the last 2 are without any blood. I've had strong stomach cramping, particularly with food. I've been able to continue sipping on water, but have avoided food for the most part. I've had no other symptoms (fever, N/V, headache...).
I called my OB's office today and requested to speak with the nurse regarding my symptoms. I only got to speak with someone who answered the phone. Her advice was to take Immodium and continue drinking water and if felt dehydrated then go to the hospital. I told her I was concerned about affects to the fetus, to which I received a very generic "it won't hurt the baby' answer.
I'm left a little concerned that my complaint wasn't addressed properly, as well as (if it is food poisoning) what this means for my pregnancy. Research on medical websites indicates that food poisoning can be serious in pregnancy, and sometimes ABX are indicated - when's its d/t bacteria of course. None of this information was discussed with me during my call....
