Hello! I Am A 24 Year Old Male Who Just

Question: Hello! I am a 24 year old male who just moved to a new city. I just finished a round of antibiotics for an infected tattoo, and recently, I’ve started developing some symptoms that may or may not be related. About a week ago, I started having this “lump in my throat” feeling. Not necessarily painful, but just very uncomfortable. I can still breathe fine, but 3 days ago I went to the ER because I felt unable to breathe for 30 seconds. They said I was fine, and thought I may have mono, but couldn’t confirm because of the antibiotics I was on. I also have high blood pressure, but since I just moved, I don’t have a PCP yet. Then, two days ago, I developed this weird feeling in my chest. It’s not necessarily painful, but it feels like the inside of my body is vibrating. I’m not sure if that’s related to my high blood pressure or not. For reference, my BP in the ER was 163/88, and I just took it and it was 143/102. Should I be immediately concerned? A nurse where I work suggested I go to urgent care and get an EKG. My health insurance doesn’t kick in until Monday, so I am just looking to see if I should be worried or now. Thanks for any input!

Brief Answer:
may be cardiac related.....require further evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, as your both blood pressure readings were on higher side and having chest discomfort with shakiness, so I think it may be cardiac related. For that I would be better to consult with expert cardiologist and he may procure Electrocardiogram, 2D-ECHO, blood sugar level after detailed medical examination.

Other possibility is chest congestion which may be due to respiratory tract infection. Chest congestion causes breathing difficulty which may cause chest discomfort. For that I would suggest you to take steam inhalation twice a day. Do saline or betadine gargles. Continue antibiotics as advised. In that case you may require complete haemogram, chest x ray after physician consultation. Further treatment will be depend upon the final diagnosis.

Till then continue blood pressure medications as prescribed. Never miss the dosage. You may require dosage adjustment after consultation.

Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further....Thank you.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam Kale
