Hello, I Am A 34 Year Old Female. For The
When I elevate my leg, the swelling goes down after about 30 minutes of elevation. It is only in that one spot, on the one leg. I have been to the doctor and she is sending me to a podiatrist, but I am wondering if that is the correct specialty and it may take some time to get there.
My question is, I have seen a couple doctors and none of them have seen anything like this before, which really worries me. Have you ever seen swelling in this particular place, and if so, what was the diagnosis.
Thank you very much for your time.
I would like to add a picture but do not know how
Can be posture related.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the attached images. The swelling near your ankle that subsides on elevating the foot is likely to be due to posture. Standing for long hours or sitting without active leg movements can cause such a painless swelling. Regular exercises of the ankle joint will increase the blood flow in the area thus decreasing the swelling. Decreasing the salt intake will also help.
Since there is no trauma or pain this is not likely to be related to any serious pathology.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
