Hello I Am A 42 Year Old Female About Four
It is difficult to say which is the real cause of fever, most likely cold.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor.
I have read your question carefully.
Since you have two separate issues going on simultaneously it will difficult to say if the fever is due to vaginal infection or cold.
If the vaginal burning has subsided with the treatment from your gynecologist, then you can wait for a week to see if the cold also subsides on its own (most colds are viral in nature, so will resolve without any treatment in a week).
However, if you do not see any improvement in cold or vaginal burning then you must consult your PCP and also see your gynecologist and get a vaginal swab culture and sensitivity.
Cold and vaginal burning are two separate issues, but both can cause fever.
I hope this answers your query, please do write back to me if you have any doubts.
Wishing you speedy recovery and good health.
Warm regards
A variation of greater than 1 degree Fahrenheit is considered as fever.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for writing back.
To be considered as fever, the temperature rise should be greater than 1 degree Fahrenheit for the time of the day.
Usually our bodies are about 1 degree colder in the mornings, and can be up to 1 degree warmer in the evenings.
If your usual morning temperature is about 97.6 degrees, then 99.3 degrees is considered as fever.
For evening, anything above 99.6 can be considered as fever.
I hope this clarifies things.
Best wishes.

Hello,
Thank you for the follow-up.
Yes, it is perfectly fine to use the metronidazole gel for vaginitis while you are suffering from viral fever.
