Hello, I Am A 62 Year Old Male, And A

For the last 6 months I have felt unwell.
In December, I went to the doctor and had a chest Xray, and was diagnosed with Bronchitis.
I was recovering, but not up to par. I couldn't exercise as much as I used to.
Early April, I was sick again, with a chest cold. The runny nose and fever went away. But, since then, I have had a nagging dry cough, I have felt fatigued and short of breath, low appetite.
However, the symptoms have been very slowly getting better. The coughing and shortness of breath had abated, and I'm getting a bit of my appetite back.
I had CT scan done and am waiting for the results.
But. I'm VERY afraid that I might have Ideopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Is this something I should be concerned about?
Wait for the CT result
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in HCM
I can understand your concern
According to the history you provide if you were my patient I would recommend you that despite the chest CT you should also do a Spirometry test
It is very important to evaluate the airways for obstruction or restrictions of them as a cause of chronic cough because there are several lung diseases that can cause chronic cough such as COPD chronic pneumonias heart diseases and so on
Usually the idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis has a longer period of dry cough, the patient is a smoker or exsmoker or has worked in an environment with air pollution.
Nevertheless you just wait for the CT scan result and you can attach me it and we can discuss again what you should do further.
Hope to have been helpful
