Hello, I Am A 65 Yr Old Female Who Has

Question: Hello, I am a 65 yr old female who has hydrocephalus resulting from repeated falls due to a bad knee. I also have incontinence problems, I had a knee replacement and the ortho put in 38 metal staples to close even though he knew I was very allergic to all metal. I started to fall, could not bend or rehab knee. As a result I suffered trauma to my head numerous times. I had a shunt put in in July '18 since then I have had pain from the shunt site down my neck and to my shoulders. My neuro insists it is not related. I was in good physical cond. before this. Now all I do is sit or sleep. Even sleep is painful. Have you ever heard of this happening? Thank you for your help.

I am still waiting for a reply.
Brief Answer:
It definitely sounds related
Detailed Answer:
Hi Dtoomey358,
Your pain definitely sounds related to your shunt and/or previous head and neck traumas. I suggest you get referred for a second opinion at neurologists'. Have you had an MRI of your head and neck?
Best wishes.

My neuro always asks for a ct scan before going in for an adjustment. I am happy to know that I am not seen as mentally unbalanced. I had a wonderful dog I adopted before this started she was a brilliant border collie/black lab mix. Exceptionally smart dog. Long story short, I took a bad fall on ice and this pup barked to get my son's attention. When she went to the vet she said the pup was mostly Border Collie and needed a job. I turned out to be her job. She rescued me! My grown children are on their own and my life partner passed away suddenly of heart failure so I was very reliant on 'Rosie'. Two months ago my XXXXXXX passed from old age. I am devastated and afraid to leave my apt for fear of falling. XXXXXXX used to alert my neighbors when I needed help. Do you as a Doctor know of any groups in my area where I can get a certified service dog? Unfortunately money is a problem for me I have been on SSD for yrs now. I live in the Hudson Valley, N.Y. area and I am too young to feel so old. I want to be a fun Grandma. Thank you for answering my question and letting me vent. Take care, XXXXXXX
