Question: Hello, I am a new lucky mom...well to a 21 month old. He has been crying so much lately, not happy. Its been hot, I let him sleep in a diaper and shorts, and noticed his chest caves in slightly between the rib cages when breathing. Is this okay? His ribs go up and down cause he sleeps with his arms above his head

Brief Answer:
There is no need for concern

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and her is my advice.

From your description, it doesnt seem to be pectus excavatum or retractions of chest during a chest infection.

So there is no need for concern.
During hot weather, keep him well hydrated. He may drink more of milk.

Hope this helps Let me know if I can assist you further.
