Hello! I Am Concerned About My Doughter Of 3 Years
Kindly give few more details
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service
I have gone through your query and understand your concern
To assess the chance of COVID, I need few more details:
1. Is there any associated symptoms apart from fever, like cold/nasal discharge/throat pain/ear ache/ear discharge/cough/abdominal pain/vomiting/loose stools/too frequent or painful urination?
2. Anyone else in family or close contacts having fever or above mentioned symptoms right now?
3. Any history of recent travel or contact with +ve cases recently?
4. Is she otherwise active, playful and feeding well?
5. Also, the reports attached are of poor quality and not readable; kindly upload good quality images.
Regarding the second question, although symptoms can appear anywhere between 2-14 days after exposure, typically they appear within 4-5 days.
Kindly get back with details, so that I can guide you better
Dr Muhammed Aslam, Paediatrician
NEED NOT WORRY
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Thank you for the details given, although the images are still unreadable
Going through the history, this probably suggests a viral respiratory infection. From symptoms/temperature chart alone, it is difficult distinguish COVID from other common respiratory viruses.
But, since she is otherwise active and playful, nothing to worry. Let us wait for 3 more days. Meanwhile you continue the antibiotics as prescribed, give Paracetamol to relieve fever as needed and let her take some rest, drink enough fluids and a soft diet. She should be fine in a couple of days.
If fever does not disappear by 4th or 5th days, she develops breathing difficulty or becomes dull and lethargic, we can proceed accordingly(this will demand direct review with your pediatrician).
If you are so worried or there are hight risk individuals in the household(elders, diabetics), we can do PCR testing straight away. Otherwise I prefer to wait and watch.
I can go through the reports if you can take another good quality picture and upload, rather than re-uploading the same images. But, blood reports won't help much to distinguish COVID from other pathogens.
I hope this answer will help
If you need further clarification, I will be happy to help; otherwise you can close the discussion and kindly rate the answer.
Need not go to doctor urgently; can repeat blood tests after 2-3 weeks
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Welcome back
There are 10 images attached, out of which I could read last 5; first 5 are still unreadable.
In the reports, everything is normal, except:
1) Low hemoglobin and serum Iron level, suggesting anemia. We can decide regarding Iron therapy for this after seeing the hemoglobin level after 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile, increase the amount of green leafy vegetables and fruits in her diet. Fish/meat are also rich sources of iron.
2)High Monocyte count and marginally high CRP and ESR. These changes can happen with the current infection, and probably will settle once the infection is settled. So it is better to repeat the test after 2-3 weeks.
Since fever has gone and she is active, need not go to doctor urgently. But we can continue antibiotics for 2 more days(total 7 days). A 2-3 days of antibiotics after disappearing of fever is good.
To relieve cough, you can give her Levocetirizine and Salbutamol. Give 5ml of Levocetirizine syrup(2.5mg/5ml) at night and 5ml of Salbutamol syrup(2mg/5ml) 3 times daily for 3-5 days. Also, avoid exposure to dust and cold air.
Hope I have cleared your doubts
If you need further clarification, I will be happy to help
