Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX jauregui11,
Thanks for the query.I understand your concern.
Colace is a stool softener...it would help softening &easy expulsion of stools...but for now, when there is extreamly hard stool,(sort of impacted,I suppose)...it will not relieve you.
*For the moment
-you can use a Glycerine suppository for adults like Hadensa over the counter.Insert it gently in anus as up as possible&wait for 15-30 minutes..it will dissolve &help.
-Alternatively Glycerine syringe or P/W enema can be taken with medical attendent's help.
* Continue with Colace for 8-10 days to help you till self help/doctor's advice start acting.
*Self help- Eating lot of fibers &drinking lot of water daily/abdominal exercises would be natural way to manage it in long term.
*Medical assistance ...To detect possibility of piles following delivery/exclude or find any infection of bowels is advised.A needful specific treatment would help in cure of the problem.
I hope that answers your query .Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.
Please consult a physician.
