Question: Hello,

I am having hair loss as I do not feel well due to some health related issues. As a result, I had tangles on my hair and had to cut those.

Now from curly heavy hair I moved down to less hair, I feel so depressed after looking at them. Is it possible to grow hair. I am 29 now so can you please advise something. I love long hair.

Thanks & Regards,

Brief Answer:
Regarding hair fall

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Underlying health issues seem to be the cause of your hair loss - Telogen effluvium. The stress of an underlying illness shifts the hair cycle from growth phase (Anaphase) to shedding phase (Telogen). Certain chemical mediators that are released during stress (physical, emotional etc) like TGF- beta are responsible for this phase shift. Apart from addressing the underlying health issue I would suggest you to take a balanced nutritious diet rich in proteins, vitamins and mineral. You may take a hair vitamin as supplement i.e vitamin B7 e.g Tab Revilus or Tab. Proanagen once daily for a few months. In addition I suggest you to use a hair growth serum e.g either Q- sera serum or Redenser hair serum, twice daily on scalp skin for a few months. I would also suggest a few lab tests like Complete Blood Count (CBC) Thyroid screen, Serum Ferritin levels, serum Vitamin D3 levels and serum Vitamin B12 levels. These levels should be corrected if the need be.

Hope I have answered your query.
