Hello, I Am Taking 1.5 Mg Vraylar In The Morning

Question: Hello, I am taking 1.5 mg vraylar in the morning for schizoaffective disorder, 100 mg luvox in the morning for OCD, 150 mg trileptal in the morning and 300 mg at night for mood stabilization, 5 mg of propranolol in the morning and 10 mg at night for tachycardia, 150 mg wellbutrin xl in the morning for depression, and 0.5 mg of klonopin in the morning and 1 mg at night for anxiety. I also take a gummy multivitamin and 88.25 mg of saffron as supplements in the afternoon. I am still feeling depressed so I wanted to know what natural supplement you recommend for depression that won't interact with my medications. My gummy multivitamin only has 33 % vitamin C in it so should I take an additional vitamin C supplement? I also read about inositol being good for depression and other psychiatric disorders so do you think that would be a good choice? But I heard it can cause liver damage. Please tell me what natural supplement you recommend for my depression and what dosage and whether I should keep taking my other two supplements.

Brief Answer:
A combination of medicine and counselling and a varied diet and regular exercise might be helpful in overcoming depression. Please meet your doctor to discuss right dose of medicine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question Soniya. I am sorry to read about your depression and hope I can be of help for you today. Through reading your query I understand that you have been using many kinds of medicine to control your depression, but you are indicating that you still feel depressed. How long ago did you met with the doctor that prescribed your medicines? It might be wise to discuss again about the right dose for you. In addition to medicines that relieve depression I would like to recommend counseling with a counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist. It is difficult to treat a depression with medicine alone, it is always wise to combine medicine with counseling. Regarding your question on supplements, we hear from some patients that they feel that supplements help them but there is no scientific proof that supplements help to overcome depression. None of the herbal remedies tested for anxiety disorders in clinical trials have been shown to be clearly effective or clearly ineffective. I would like to recommend a varied diet including fruit, vegetables, nuts, and seafood which include all the nutrients including vitamins, minerals, omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and amino acids that you need. Make sure your diet includes zinc, vitamines B6 and B12 and the best is to get them out of your diet instead of supplements. Regarding your vitamine C intake this should be sufficient if you take multivitamin gummy already but you can always include more fruit containing vitamin C in your diet. A combination of a varied diet and regular exercise might be helpful in overcoming depression.

Thank you very much for your question today and I wish you all the best. Let me know if I can assist you any further.
