Hello, I Am Taking 30 Mg Of Latuda Twice A

Question: Hello, I am taking 30 mg of Latuda twice a day for schizoaffective disorder, 100 mg of Luvox once a day for OCD and anxiety, and 5 mg of propranolol twice a day for tachycardia. I was taking 60 mg twice a day of Latuda but reduced it to 30 mg twice a day in the last two days. I have been feeling shaky like there is electricity going through my body and this is one of the warning signs of seizures and it said propranolol is highly fat soluble and can cross the blood brain barrier and cause seizures. Latuda increases the level of propranolol in the blood which may lead to toxicity of propranolol and seizures. Do you think I am at risk of getting a seizure? Also, I had minor shakiness for a couple of minutes two or three times while I was sleeping. Do you think these were seizures? I do not have a seizure disorder and do not have a history of seizures.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on Ask a Doctor service!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms do not seem to be related to seizures.

In my opinion your symptoms could be related to anxiety, probably causes by the reduce in the dose of Latuda.

Regarding the possibility of interaction between Latuda and Propranolol, it is true, but the dose of propranolol that you are taking is really low.

So, in my opinion there is nothing to worry about seizures.

Besides, propranolol may help reduce anxiety. It does not cause seizures especially at this dose.

So, in my opinion you may need to increase Latuda dose again or take Xanax and see if it helps improve your situation.

I hope you will find this answer helpful!
