Hello, I Am Taking 60 Mg Latuda Twice A Day
Question: Hello, I am taking 60 mg Latuda twice a day for schizoaffective disorder, 100 mg of Luvox once a day for anxiety and OCD, 50 mg of Vistaril twice a day for anxiety, and 10 mg of propranolol once a day for tachycardia. I felt shaky for the last two nights and it said on Google that 2 out of 72 people who took both latuda and atarax for longer than 1 month got seizures and I have been taking both for longer than 1 month. Do you think it's safe to continue them or do you think I will get a seizure?
Brief Answer:
It is almost safe
Detailed Answer:
Dear Soniya,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
There is one study which indicated possibility of seizures while using latuda/atypical antipsychotics. The possibility was only 1-3% in those who were susceptible for seizures. In addition, it is not about Latuda or one medication, it is more or less applicable to all newer antipsychotics.
On the other side antipsychotics are only the viable option to treat schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorder. When we compare the risk benefit ratio, the benefits are far outnumbered with antipsychotics when they are indicated.
Considering this fact it can be stated that it is largely safe as discontinuation can cause much more problems in compare to continuation.
I hope this answers you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
