Question: Hello. I had a baby almost five months ago. Around 3 months I began to gain a lot of weight. I was only breastfeeding. I have weaned the baby and I have been feeling terrible PMS but no period. Weight gain and headaches and cramps and things. I am thinking about beginning the birth control pill lo lo estrin in a hope that it will help to start balancing my hormones. I think because my hormones are so messed up from nursing that my estrogen is low causing weight gain and other things. Is this possibly going to help me to
Have the hormones back in my body at a low dose? The ten lbs are really frustrating and I think mostly
Water.

In the current scenario, you have to exclude pregnancy before planning to start hormones. Lactation is not a foolproof contraceptive condition.

Meanwhile you can manage your weight through diet and exercise. Also, check for anemia and hypoproteinemia. Add supplements.

If pregnancy is excluded, you can go for induction of a period followed by appropriate management under proper medical supervision.
