Question: Hello. I had loads of tests on my heart end of last year as I suffer with a fast heart a lot of the time (which I was told was due to my anxiety). I was also told I suffer with ventricular ectopic beats, which I have googled and learnt that it can kill you (cardigan arrest). I am super super worried about this and can’t sleeo or eat through worrying I will die soon.

Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that anxiety can trigger this clinical situation.

Some PVC can occur normally in every healthy individual during emotional stress and straining physical activity.

Anyway, before coming to this conclusion, I would recommend performing some blood lab tests (complete blood count for anemia, thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction, blood electrolytes for possible imbalance) in order to exclude possible metabolic causes that may trigger this clinical situation.

Thankyou for your reply.
Could these ventricular ectopic she dangerous to me even though I have been found to have a normal health rhythm and excellent heart structure?
I worry they will cause a cardiac arrest

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

These ventricular ectopic heart beats are usually not harmful.

Anyway, I would recommend performing a cardiac MRI in order to examine better your heart function and structure.

You should discuss with your doctor on this test.

Hope you will find this information helpful!

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Thank you for the additional information!

I would just like to explain that a cardiac MRI is a much more accurate test to help examine the myocardial structure and function compared to a cardiac ultrasound.

That is why I recommended performing a cardiac MRI in order to help totally exclude any cardiac issues and put your mind to peace about that.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!

Wishing all the best,

Dr. Iliri
