Hello I Have A Question...if I Received A CT Scan
Brief Answer:
Not always
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
CT scans are not always optimized to look for bowel. Especially in the setting of bowel obstruction, it is difficult to visualize the entire colon. For the purpose of screening for colon cancer/polyp, we need a virtual colonoscopy, which is basically CT with a specific protocol.
It is reasonable to assume that this was not possible in the setting of bowel obstruction.
Hence, colonoscopy, if indicated now, should not be deferred in view of that CT 3 yrs back.
Hope this helps.
Regards
