Hello, I Have Been Sick With Bronchitis For 3 Weeks
Question: Hello,
I have been sick with bronchitis for 3 weeks now and went to urgent care originally to be diagnosed. I had an X-ray and it came back that I have bilateral Hilar fullness. Everything else looked normal. I’m going to get a chest CT next but was wondering if this could be some form of pneumonia instead of bronchitis?
I have read all of the awful google possibilities and I didn’t have any symptoms of anything until I got sick. I’m a healthy 39 year old female non smoker who gets sick once every other year. My doctor won’t say anything except that it was abnormal. She isn’t the best with explaining things

Brief Answer:
You may have bronchopneumonia
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query here is my advice.
I think you can have them both. We usually find pneumonia to someone suffering from bronchitis and this is very common.
The treatment is the same, antibiotics, mucolytics, and corticosteroids.
You should start treatment as soon as possible.
Having some days of rest is necessary. A CT scan is not necessary.
Hope I have answered the question .
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you. This would cause the bilateral Hilar fullness on chest X-ray?
Brief Answer:
It shows bronchitis.
Detailed Answer:
The hilar fullness can show bronchitis and opacity in pulmonary tissue can show pneumonia. Sometimes we find them together as bronchopneumonia.
You are welcome.
Wishing you good health.
