Question: Hello. I have been taking Bactrim for eight days. Suddenly, I developed a rash on my lower back and both sides of my torso. I did not know that I had any drug allergies, but this could be an allergic reaction to the Sulfa in Bactrim. Additionally, my sister had an allergic reaction to Bactrim a few months ago. Is there something over the counter that I can take to counteract this rash/allergic reaction?

Brief Answer:
Use antihistamines and hydrocortisone cream

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
There is nothing to conteract the rash caused as allergic reaction to bactrim.
First of all stop using it anymore.
Have a cold bath you cool it down.
You can use antihistamines such benadryl or citerizine.
Use hydrocortisone cream over rash.

If it doesn't get better you can use prednisolone injection.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
