Hello I Have Co2 Laser Surgery For An Oral Dysplastic
Question: Hello I have co2 laser surgery for an oral dysplastic lesion on my tongue earlier this year in February. Everything is fine now however in an area treated by the laser there appears to be a white/flesh colored lesion that has been present since March. This is in an area that previously had a larger flesh colored raised area that had a biopsy done on it and it came back as granulated tissue. My question is could that lesion presently there be granulated tissue since it was in an area treated by laser even 7 months later?
Brief Answer:
Probably granulated tissue,if it persists in six month a revision is requir
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your symptoms seem to be related to granulated tissue. Granulated tissue is very frequent after laser intervent.
I suggest you to wait for at least six months.
The granulated tissue should be healed during this period.
If the formation persists after six months you should consult a doctor about a revision surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello thank you for the response. I was wondering is it normal for granulated tissue to hurt, which feels like a sting, months after an operation with a laser? The pain comes and goes but it feels worse with acidic things and when pressing on it.
Brief Answer:
The healing process may require some time, the symptoms are normal.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,
It is normal for granulated tissue to hurt. The healing process require a few months.
During this period the body repairs broken blood vessels and replaces damaged tissues with healthy ones.
During this time the granulated tissue is sensible to heat, acidity and other triggers.
I suggest you to eat food in room temperature and avoid other factors that can irritate the area such as acidity.
Wish you all the best.
Take care dear,
