I Have Had C-Diff For Approx Three Weeks

Question: Hello,

I have had C-Diff for approx three weeks, it was confirmed when I turned in a stool sample. My primary care physician prescribed
Metronazole . I have just begun taking the large caps(took second one) I have read some reviews of this medication and 90% of people reported severe side effects. So far none for me,should I be concerned. Should I also stay on the BRAT diet while taking this medication.

I sure hope I suffer no severe side effects. I am taking the Metronidazole with food . Is this medication mostly effective in eliminating the C-Deff bacteria ?

I can assure you that you will not suffer any serious side effects.

Metronidazole is the first-line medication for treating C diff. infection.
It is very effective for treating milder C diff infections.

If the infection is severe or recurrent, then you may have to switch to other antibiotics.
