Question: Hello. I have two main symptoms. I have a "bad feeling" in my digestive tract. I also have a feeling of being light headed - of being "almost dizzy" or "almost losing my balance". I feel as if I am a little distanced from what is going on in the room about me.

Brief Answer:
Not specific symptoms...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I went through your symptoms in detail. But I need to tell you that these are not specific symptoms and I cannot arrive at a diagnosis based on it. You will need to be evaluated. The closest possibility that I can think of is syncope. Syncope is related to cardiovasular change, blood sugar or metabolic change.
At this instance, I would suggest you to avoid strenuous physical activities. Rest adequately and if symptoms persists / worsens, you should seek a doctor for further evaluation.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX for your answer. I am sorry that the symptoms I described were not specific.
It is hard to explain, but I just don't feel well. I have about a 1-degree temperature (99.5F). My digestive track feels bad and uneasy. I take Pepto Bismol for that. My head feels light headed and a little dizzy. My appetite is lower but I still can eat.
I've had these symptoms for about 18 days. I saw my regular doctor about it 9 days ago. He seemed to want to leave the room as quickly as he could without discussing my problems. He said it was Vertigo and there is nothing that can be done for it.
I've had two bouts of Vertigo in the past (over 3 years ago). Each bout lasted about 10 minutes and then was over. So I know that what I have now is not Vertigo.
I hope this information helps you know what my problem is.
Thank you,
Tim XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Need evaluation...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Apologies for the late reply. I was away from internet this weekend.
Thanks for elaborating it further. Based on your description, you have a fairly acute onset symptoms of lightheadedness, dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbance and low grade fever. When I mentioned these are non specific symptoms, I meant your symptoms do not point to a single medical condition. It will be difficult to arrive at a diagnosis based on symptom alone. You will need a clinical evaluation - a physical examination and a few tests. If you had been my patient I would consider the following possibilities:
1. Metabolic changes primarily thyroid hormone disturbance. It should be checked. In addition, blood sugar, electrolytes and if necessary liver functions should be checked too.
2. BP and cardiac check up - EKG and echocardiogram if necessary
3. A complete hemogram
4. If all of these are normal, a neurologist opinion may be necessary.
I would suggest you discuss with your primary care physician about these aspects. I hope you will find answers now.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards

Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX for your response. It is very helpful and I will definitely print this out and discuss it with my doctor. Hopefully these tests will determine what is wrong with me.
Another follow-up question I have is this: I take a lot of vitamins and health supplements. Do my symptoms sound like they could be a reaction to either a supplement or food item? Or could it be a reaction to something like mold?
Would the tests you suggest find that perhaps my body is having an adverse reaction to something in my environment?
FYI, I am currently not taking any prescription drugs, just health supplements (vitamins and other supplements).
Thank you for your response.

Brief Answer:
doesn't seem to be adverse effect or allergy
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
No, it doesn't seem to be an adverse event or allergy to either medications or other environmental factor.
As I indicated above, it is not going to be easy to confirm the cause without a detailed clinical examination and investigation. You should consider getting back to the doctor if the symptoms are troublesome.
Good luck!!
