Hello ! I M Father - And We Ar Planing
I m father - and we ar planing a child !
I have question about neonatal herpes simplex virus (hsv) infection - as i have read in literature !
1. What can we do avoid transmition to child - from mother
Of cores we should follow the symptoms - but should we do some more test in late pregnancy as the most case are asymptomatic. And late stage it is time te most risk children transmition .
2. And what can we do to avoid transmition to child after delivery !
How can it be done ? As there is close contact with child all the time !
3. And can we have a sex during pregnancy without condom - as we ar monogamous - and we have no genital herpes symptoms !
Thank you very much !

Dear Visumss,
Congratulations on taking the decision to be a father!
I can understand your concerns that you both want to have a healthy baby. Yes, neonatal herpes is a problem that can be devastating for a baby who is born with it. However, there are standard protocols for what to do with the situation. The most important thing is for your wife to meet a gynaecologist and get herself examined for herpes infection in her birth canal. If she had a previous herpes infection but she *does not have an active infection at present (which means no cold sores)*, the risk to the baby is minimal. If she does have cold sores, delivery by a Caesarean section will mostly avoid the risk of the baby getting infected.
This is the basic answer. If you choose to get back to me, I can share with you some more details of how we manage the problem in our hospital in the UK where I currently work.
Thank you for choosing this platform to get your query answered. Have a good day.
my wife is ok no symptoms !
1. Can we have sex without condom - i have no genital herpes !
2. Ho can genital herpes transited to child after delivery - can children sleep with us in one bed if we wear underwear. I afraid that we can transmit to children. And for how long period children is in risk group that he could get herpes after delivery and get problems ?

If she can be tested for genital herpes by a clinician, that would be best. That will then decide about Q1. Often, cold sores are not easily visible.
As to your second question, yes, your child can sleep in the same room in its own crib, but ideally, not in the same bed for another reason: it is not safe as she/he can get choked by one of you involuntarily sleeping over her/him. It is usually something people do in XXXXXXX and other Asian countries, but it is not advisable from a safety point of view. The baby's mother should get up off the bed and then go and pick up the baby to feed it.
From the herpes point of view, there is no problem in the baby being close to the parents.
I hope this answers your questions.
