Question: Hello,
I was recently diagnosed with a sinus infection however I don't believe that's actually what's going on. I'm concerned about having something more serious given that my eye sight is being affected. Can you give me some advice?

Hi,
My symptoms include bilateral periorbital pain, pressure, temporal pain, pressure and intermittent frontal & jaw pain. I've also been experiencing blurry vision at a distance. The symptoms started approximately 2 wks ago but only on the left. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection Fri evening. The NP also found fluid in my R ear. My vision was 20/25 each individually, although they are not at their baseline, consistently blurry at distance and I have difficulty focusing from near to far. I started amox Fri evening, Prednisone sat morning. Symptoms Improved over the weekend however today I am back where I was on Friday. I have No fever, cough, drainage or congestion. I've taken both Mucinex & decongestant with no effect or relief.

Brief Answer:
Typical sinus infection signs.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again dear and thank you for asking again. Your symptoms are typical symptom of a severe sinusitis. The congestion and severe pressure in the head can also impact eyesight. This may be a result of pain perception but can also arise from sinus pressure impacting circulation to the blood vessels of the eyes causing blurred and impaired vision and tiredness.

The treatment should last for two weeks with antibiotics, 6 days with corticosteroids and continue with decongestants and nasal irrigation with saline water.
Also take antinflamatory drugs such advil or acetaminophen for pain relief and inflammation.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you.
