Question: Hello,

I was shoot in my right leg next to the groin area 9 months ago. I went into surgery and they repair one of my main artery. Until one week ago, my leg has been recovering pretty good. I had only have some needless and pins pain but they were getting less and less over time. A week ago, I was walking and out of nowhere my leg felt so week and with pain on the back of my leg. I was struggling to use my right leg to the point that I had to put almost all my weight into my left leg. Since then, I can walk but after few minutes of walking I feel like my right leg is struggling and it is not as strong as it used to. Is it serious? Do I need to go to the hospital right away ? What can I do?
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Narrowing of artery possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think the problem can be with the narrowing of your damaged artery also called claudication.
The lumen of your artery is narrow due to fibrotic tissue formed from regeneration leading to a bad circulation of the blood in the right leg.
The pain happens mostly during exercises because more blood is required.
I think you should talk to your surgeon or angiologyst soon.
He may do doppler ultrasound, MRI or CT scan to check it.
Angioplasty may be an option to treat it opening artery with a balloon and putting a stent on it.

Hope I have answered the question.

Yeah, my doctor told me I should get a ultrasound within 6 months to see how the vein were doing. Do you know a place where I can get a ultrasound in Los Angeles, CA? I looked for one but I do not know which one should I go.

Thank you
