Hello! I’m Attaching A Few Pictures Of A Red Spot

Question: Hello! I’m attaching a few pictures of a red Spot on my upper inner thigh and was wondering if you can tell me what if may be and if it looks worrisome. I have no idea when it appeared but it has been less than four weeks, as I had a skin cancer screening four weeks ago and it wasn’t there at the time. When I just noticed it awhile ago it was just a reddish spot and doesn’t appear to be a cherry angioma . I squeezed it and some blood came out and when you zoom in the area the reason that looks irritated is because I just squeezed it. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Folliculitis or acneform eruption, nothing to worry about

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...

I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photographs.

It seemed to be either a folliculitis which is inflammation of the hair follicle or an acneform eruption.

There is nothing to worry about as these are benign eruptions.

I would recommend you to apply topical antibiotic like fusidic acid cream or Neosporin ointment on the affected area twice daily for 7-8 days.

This will help in resolving it.

Regards
Dr Asmeet

Hi Dr. Sawhney! Thank you so much....you always make me feel better! With this health anxiety of mine I get stressed when a new spot pops up on my skin, especially since I made the mistake some time ago of googling pictures of skin cancers! I’m attaching another picture of the spot today...so it doesn’t look like any type of skin cancer (I made the mistake of seeing online pictures of the rare Merkel cell cancer...scary!!). Also, about how long can folliculitis or acne form eruptions be known to last? Thank you again for everything!!
