Hello! I’m Attaching An Image Of A Panoramic X-ray Which
Question: Hello! I’m attaching an image of a panoramic X-ray which my dentist recently took, along with a copy of a CT scan report of my maxillofacial structures. As you will see, the CT scan report references a soft tissue nodule in my left nasal vestibule, and said it could be thickened excretions or a polyp. I visited an ENT and she thought it could be an inverting papilloma, and she referred me to an ENT surgeon whom I am seeing tomorrow for further evaluation. I was wondering....in the panoramic X-ray, what exactly is the area I have circled? Is the whitish area in the left area of my nose the nodule which the CT scan report references, or is it something else? Does it appear concerning? Thank you!!
Brief Answer:
Hii.Hope you are doing well. Are you having any nasal symptoms like sneezin
Detailed Answer:
Hii.Hope you are doing well. Are you having any nasal symptoms like sneezing, running nose, headache, nasal obstruction. I have seen the X ray OPG. It is inconclusive to come to a diagnosis. Can u please send the CT Scan films? It is always better to see the films before coming to a diagnosis. You need to consult an ENT surgeon in the meantime so that a nasal endoscopy can be done. You can start taking fluticasone nasal spray and system inhalation. Please review with film.

Hi Dr. Basak...thank you for your reply! Unfortunately I do not have the CT scan films for you, but I did visit with an ENT surgeon yesterday, and he took a biopsy of the area in question. He stated that it appears benign and that he believes it is a papilloma, most likely caused by a virus or prior trauma to the area, and that it does not appear to be the inverting type of papilloma. Depending upon the pathology reports he may remove more of it or do nothing. Thank you again for your input!
