Question: Hello. I’ve had a history of high creatinine levels. Usually around 1.30-1.40. In 2009 I passed a kidney stone which was 100% Uric Acid based. Was placed on Hydrochlorothiazide and Potassium Citrate. Since then no changes on Creatinine levels and no stones. Ultrasound awhile back showed afew cysts on the kidneys. Last Labs that were done about a week ago showed Protein 3+ and Glucose +1 in my urine. Being sent back to Nephrology. Is this an indicator of worsening kidney function?

Brief Answer:
Kidney function is best reflected in creatinine

Detailed Answer:
Hi Blackhound39,

Your kidney function is best reflected in your creatinine, so if that is fine, it's good. In terms of the protein and glucose in your urine, the next step could be a new ultrasound of your kidneys and 24h collection of urine to quantify the proteinuria, as it may be a chance finding with no relevance.

Hope this helps.
