Question: Hello, I've had a mitral prolapse all my life and never had any issues. Lately, I've been experiencing shortness of breath, palpitations, and numbness in both hands. I'm also under stress due to the coronavirus situation, don't know if this is related in some way. Is there anything I can do to get some relief? Also, how do I know if my condition has worsened? Thank you.
PS I should mention that I live in high altitude (+12,000 ft above sea level). I've been living here for 5 years and never experienced any symptoms like the ones I'm having right now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
After going through the medical details provided by you I can understand your concern and I would like to tell you that the first and the important thing is that you should stop taking stress as this doesn’t seems to be related to corona and also anxiety and stress causes palpitations or fast heart rate.
Now as you have already been diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse so it’s important to get an echocardiogram done to rule out any worsening of mitral valve prolapse and mitral valve regurgitation which would be the cause of your symptoms.
Kindly consult your cardiologist personally for physical examination and an echocardiogram.
Kind Regards
