Question: Hello, I’ve had an infection on my penile shaft for about 4 days. Began as a swollen red pus-filled bump with redness extending to surrounding skin. After using antibiotic ointment redness and swelling have lessened somewhat but there is still pus and blood from where the skin is breaking. I was concerned that this could be a staph infection or MRSA and would like to know if it requires more urgent attention. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Consult a doctor and start with oral antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and it seems to be a bacterial infection.
You should consult a doctor and take a course of oral antibiotic like tablet cephalexin 500 mg twice daily for 5-7 days and continue with the topical antibiotic.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to answer any further queries.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
