Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

From the available description it appears that following exposure to cat bite you developed obsessive compulsive disorder which is a form of neurotic disorder. My opinion is based on the fact that there is pathological doubt, hyper-attentiveness, impairment of functioning due to excessive stress in addition to others.

It is right to say that the psychologist can control the symptoms with right form of therapy in obsessive compulsive disorder and many of the patients with similar conditions do not need any form of medications. It is also right to say that some of symptoms need treatment with medications.

Sop at this stage I feel you need to continue with qualified psychologist as it may need 8-12 sessions to get complete control.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.

Thanks Doctor. Let me add few more symptoms I am facing:
I always know that whatever i am thinking is illogical, still I could not control few things like- I check legs may be few time though I know that is not been bitten or no animal was even nearer.
I always doubt a wound which would have been created due to sports but if I dont know why wound happened, I go into thought loop and during self talk debate, head becomes heavy.
These incidences fade usually after few days but I land up creating more.
For safety I always think of the vaccine (I completed booster dose schedule on 14th XXXXXXX 21). I still think to take it though vaccine is effective for months.
Thoughts related to this infect me and create a loop.
My questions
Is this a serious issue ? How easily can it be cured?
Is there any medicine I can use? which will be available directly in the medicine without prescription?
How general this issue is? or special for my case?
Can I control it in home? Any suggestions for that.
I want to be carefree again.
Please guide me through it.

Hello,
Thanks for follow up.

The additional details favour the diagnosis of OCD. I must acknowledge that the OCD is common disorder and affects around 2% of population. It is a common psychiatric disorder and affects functioning of individual to a greater extent. Considering its impact I feel it is serious disorder although the effect varies from person to person.

It needs long term treatment in form of either medication or psychotherapy or combination of both.

There are no over the counter medications to treat OCD. You need proper prescription.

As stated above around 2% of general population suffers with OCD.

I think it is not possible to control at home. You need professional help either from a psychiatrist or psychologist or both.

I hope this answers you further.
Thanks again.

Thanks.
If I start consulting psychiatrist, would medicines have any side effects on me? Like will I be able to function normally Or will I feel drowsiness . Because I work in an industry which requires continuous function.
What do you currently think about severity specifically about my case? Any heavy medicines required? And how much time do you think I should be able to feel same as before?

Hello,
Thanks for follow up.

As per my experience with similar patients, medicine will make you more active in regard to your work rather than drowsy. The choice of medication always takes consideration of your job profile and you are not supposed to worry about it.

The side effects are generally there but much less in compare to illness. So there is more advantage with treatment in compare to risks.

Most of my patients respond by 6-12 weeks with similar problems and same can be expected for you.

I hope this answers you further.
Thanks again.
