Question: Hello
My daughter born at start of 36th week. So she was a little premature. She is 8 days old today and we tested her thyroid levels.
Results: T4: 8.91 & TSH: 1.25.

Is this normal? Should we get her tested again in a month’s time.

Thanks a lot.

Brief Answer:
Results are normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I see the report of exams.
I think her results are normal taking in consideration that she was a late premature.
In premature infants Hypothyroidism is defined when T4 <0.7ng/ml
and TSH <7mU/ml in initial test.
I think you doesn't need to recheck her results.
The bilirubin for her age and being premature is normal (n 9,42-+ 0.88mg/dl).
She needs phototherapy.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
