Hello My Son ,age 25 Years, Has Hydroceles And A
![default](/r/images/default.png)
My son ,age 25 years, has hydroceles and a varicocele. He had his groin swell up for about a week and it was painful but the pain stopped though varicocele is still there. The first test done showed only hydrocele but test done 3 months later showed varicocele.Could the lack of pain with varicocele mean necrosis of his testicle and do you think it should be treated?
Thank you
Varicocele may not give rise to pain
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that your son has been detected to have hydrocele on ultrasound Scanning of scrotum. It is most likely to be a secondary hydrocele due to infection of testicle which is a;ways painful .
His recent scan has revealed Varicocele (You have not mentioned grade and side of the Varicocele ) Varicocele if grade 1 does not give rise to pain apart from mild discomfort .
Absence of pain signify necrosis of testicle .On the contrary necrosis of testicle will always cause severe pain .
Normally mild or grade one Varicocele does not need any treatment except using scrotal support.Consult qualified General surgeon or Urologist for further assessment he would be the best person to decide whether he needs any treatment or not .
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
