Hello and welcome to "Ask A Doctor"

I have gone through your query and can certainly understand your concern,

Your doctor may have suggested MRI to look for any underlying bleed in the speech centre of the brain thereby causing sudden aphasia. This could arise as a complication of long standing high blood pressure along with the anticoagulants that he is on post-procedure.

For now, all we can do is to wait for the MRI scan report and act accordingly. Your father may require administration of ICT reducing agents for proper recovery. Proper check on his BP has to be maintained.

I hope this helps,

Please feel free to discuss further,

Regards

Hello again,
Thanks for writing back,

I have gone through the attached MRI report. It shows to be lacunar infarct, which is a consequence of the long standing BP and cholesterol. Early treatment and management determines the prognosis of the patient. Since there are also old lacunar infarcts seen, there can be some resultant neurological deficits in the long run.

However, for now, he needs to be put on intravenous clot dissolving drugs and hourly monitoring of blood pressure.

I hope this helps,

Please feel free to discuss further,
