Question: Hello Sir,
My 15 month old baby boy is having 102 F fever since yesternight. Sometime it comes to 100 and again goes back to 102. Till yesterday, everything was fine. Suddenly at night, it went up to 102. He is eating normally, but feeling little dull and cranky. Any suggestion on possible cure would be highly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Might be viral fever, need not worry

Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
A previously normal child developing fever all of a sudden without any other symptoms usually suggests an acute viral illness.
As he is otherwise active and feeding well, nothing to worry. He will be alright in 48-72 hours.
Till then, you can give him Paracetamol suspension 3-4 times daily(every 6-8 hours). If you tell me weight of the child, I can give the exact dosing.
If fever persists beyond 72 hours, fresh symptoms appear, or if he becomes dull and refuses to feed, let me know.
Regards, Dr Aslam
