Hello Sir, This Is Anupriya Here, I Am Facing Issue

This is Anupriya here, I am facing issue with lungs like shortness of breadth. I was detected with mild asthma as I have allergy from Pollen and dust mites. I see there cough always there in my chest and sometime I feel like mucus falls from my head to the lungs. I went to a Emergency room due to bad headache and the doctor provided me with Antibiotic which I took for some days. When I take this antibiotic this cough reduces to fall from head to the lungs, as soon as my antibiotic dose is over the problem started again. I am on Pantophrazole 40 mg for GERD problem from 2016. Can this cause the problem?
I am confused what it could be? I am also loosing weigh unintentionally, lost 20 -30 lbs in around 7 months. Please advise me towards the right direction.
Regards,
Anupriya
Yes, GERD can worsen underlying asthma.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the history you have given.
Yes, GERD can worsen underlying asthma.
So we need to control GERD optimally.
In my opinion, you should also get done fresh PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) and chest x ray.
PFT is needed to identify severity of your asthma.
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
Please let me know
1. Do you take any inhaled medication like inhaler?
2. Have you ever undergone chest x ray?
3. Have you ever consulted pulmonologist?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Sorry for the delayed response. Once I went to the emergency room they prescribed me to take an antibiotic which helped me to get some relief on the mucus coming down from head to my lungs. But once the antibiotic course is complete the mucus again started to come down from my head and I feel awkward sensation. I am not sure the reason but these days I am spitting a lot.
Kindly advise.
Regards,
Nilendu

This is Nilendu here. I am Anupriya's Husband. She have done PFT a year back or so. Are you advising her to take that again?
She did Chest Xray but not recently.
1. Do you take any inhaled medication like inhaler? She once took ASMANEX but that has triggered this condition a lot. So I took her to see a different doctor he said you do not require ASMANEX anymore.
2. Have you ever undergone chest x ray? Yes in the past and it was normal.
3. Have you ever consulted pulmonologist? Yes in the past.

Nilendu

But once the antibiotic course is complete the mucus again started to come down from my head and I feel awkward sensation. I am not sure the reason but these days I am spitting a lot.
Kindly advise.
