Question: Hello about a month and a half ago, I Felt some burning and had some discharge so I got a full STD test and everything came back negative so my doctor decided it would be best to take doxycycline to see if it that would help the symptoms and for the most part I believe it did. Now however the tip ofmy uretha is red and looks irritated and that has been like that for about the whole month and a half that this problem started. Im wondering what this could be from and if it will just clear up on its own.

Brief Answer:
You have infection of mucosa of Urethral meatus (Meatitis)

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted you had a episode of burning pain in urethra which was treated and cured with Doxicycline however you have pain at the tip of the penis and urethral opening is rd and inflamed .

This is most likely to be due to residual inflammation of mucus membrane of urethra at the external urinary meatus .

You need to take broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefixime and anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily along with topical antibiotic ointment like Neosporin twice daily.

Ensure to wash your genitals with warm water twice daily.

Ensure to avoid sexual encounters till it heals up completely.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Would I have to consult my doctor for these antibiotics, also why did the doxycycline not clear the inflammation. Lastly do I apply the neosporin directly to the tip of the uretha
