Periapical abscess, medication, x ray, root canal treatment
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query and the image what you have uploaded.
Based on the history of trauma and the swelling present over the gums, the possible diagnosis can be a periapical abscess means infection in the root tip area. This can occur secondary to any trauma or decayed tooth. Following trauma or blow to the teeth, the nerve supply and the blood supply to the teeth will get damaged leading to tooth infection.
Nothing to be panic, you need to consult an oral physician and get an X ray done for that region to confirm the diagnosis. If the daignosis is confirmed, then the tooth has to be root canal treated. Since there is a covid 19 pandemic condition it might be difficult for you to consult and get the treatment done. So you can start with a course of antibiotics for 5 days. If I am your treating doctor I would have advised you to take antibiotics like Amoxicillin 500 mg thrice daily, Metronidazole 400 mg twice daily and analgesics like diclofenac if you are not allegeric to these drugs.
Do warm saline gargling morning and night.
I hope I have answered your query. if you have any queries reply me back. Take care.
After your reply i went to see a dentist nearby because the cyst was paining...
the doctor punctured the cyst and put me on ciflox tz twice a dayfor 5 days .
Doc also did a x ray of the area and it came out to be quite fine
The doc called me for followup after 5 days and she said its not healing and we need to cut it and take out the infected part from within and then put stitches...
That day i refused for stitches so the doc increased the antibitiotic to 3 more days so in total i took ciflox tz twice a day for 8 days...
After 8 days , it has not healed properly and again there is a follow up of doctor tomorw and because it has not healed completely the doctor will ask me to go for stitches...however i am a bit scared because i hv never heard of stiches on gums and can thr be chances that after stitches it will not heal completely and doc would ask for rct?
So i want to ask u if this diagnosis is correct and should i go with it?
Are thr any risks?
Thanks
Root canal treatment, medicines are temporary solution
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply. There is no need for stiches. The tooth needs to be root canal treated. Till the cause is treated, the infection will not come down. The medicines are temporary solution. So you need to get the tooth root canal treated if there is any infection in the root tip. If you have the image of the x ray kindly upload it, I will check and let you know what has to be done.
I hope I have answered your query. If you have any queries reply me back. take care.
Gum infection scaling, tooth infection, root canal treatment
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply. Wait and observe. if the root tip region is not infected then the swelling can be because of the gum infection. only the x ray will confirm the diagnosis.
If it is gum infection, then the teeth have to treated with scaling and root planing. if it is because of the tooth infection, then it has to be treated with root canal treatment.
Observe for 7-10 days and consult your dentist and take an opinion.
