Hello Doctor, I Had Suffered From Cold About A Month

I had suffered from cold about a month back, which was almost fine after few days but used to cough when exposed to cold breeze. Now, since about 10 days coughing is more with pain/pressure in chest.
I consulted a physician who prescribed Advent 625mg and Allegra-M for 5 days. But there was not much relief.
Yesterday I got a Chest X-ray, CBC test done. Reports are attached.
The X-ray report indicates INTERSTITIAL INFLAMMATION. Could you please explain the problem and how serious it is. Also suggest a treatment for the problem.
Also, would like to mention here that since 2-3 months i am suffering from cold very frequently- almost every week or 10 days. Please explain if this is also related to the problem.
Thanks,
Bhawna
Possibility of post infectious bronchitis is more likely.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the reports you have attached.
By your history and description, possibility of post infectious bronchitis is more likely.
It is common after viral upper respiratory tract infection like cold.
It causes inflammation of airways (bronchi) which appears as interstitial inflammation.
Please let me know
1. Do you have breathlessness?
2. Do you smoke?
You need to get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
Treatment is inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
Usually symptoms recover after 3-4 weeks.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks..
