Hello Doctor I Have A Question. Back In November I

Consultation
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ninako,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns about various issues including panic attacks and xanax.
Please be assured that prescription medication, if taken in the spirit and need of the condition, cause little side effects or permanent problems. Since your psychiatrist have decided it to prescribe for certain duration, which definitely means that our body needs it to prevent further damage. Since you will be taking it for short duration chances of addiction, are very low if any.
Secondly stop having a guilt. I understand that it was your decision to relax yourself but I do not feel there is any value of regretting as it will not reverse anything. However it will lead to increase stress and more problems. So it is wise to call it a bad decision. After all we are humans and we have tendency to do mistakes and please understand that none is exception in this regard.
Thirdly I don,t think use of Xanax brought the panic attacks back. It could be the mix of both genetic vulnerability, stress, guilt of using xanax as well as xanax itself. I mean to say that stoppage of xanax cold turkey does not cause development of panic attacks.
I also feel that it is important to manage it properly. So avoiding medication, when it is required, will increase suffering.
I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.

I think there is communication gap
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up.
First of all I like to assure you that I never said it can cause permanent damage. I said prescription medications cause little side effects/permanent problems. Probably my way of writing lead to misunderstanding that it causes permanent problems.
Having said this I like to assure you that this does not cause change in personality or lowering of IQ. However if used for longer period it can cause addiction and cognitive problems. These problems can be avoided by using only the permitted dosage.
Two times use is well within limits as recommended by your doctor and unlikely to cause any problem for you.
So be assured that you can take the medication as advised by your doctor but never to exceed the recommended limit without consulting your doctor.
I hope this clarifies further.
Thanks and regartds.

Detailed Answer:
hello,
Thanks for follow up.
Regarding second part of your question i like to make it clear that xanax can be weaned off without tapering down if the use was limited for few days only, as in your case.
However to be on safer side I will recommend you to keep xanax on need basis for coming weeks as it is not a good idea to resist need. I mean to say that if you have unmanageable restlessness, anxiety or panic attacks or similar things prefer taking the xanax rather than resisting its use.
In regard to first part of your question please be informed that cognitive problems are real with use of xanax but fortunately revert back to normalcy on discontinuation of medication.
I hope this answers you further.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer.

Hello,
Thanks again for follow up.
Magnesium can be used along with xanax as there are no serious interactions between two of them.
Regarding online versions of people we need to understand that they are subjective experiences and not considered real to a large extent. As stated above I like to assure you again that few weeks of xanax use does not destroy anything unless it is too high/beyond the prescription range or the person is highly vulnerable due to some other pathology.
I hope this answers you further.
Thanks and regards.

The tapering time is, the time which allows brain to return to normalcy. It means that the one month contains inbuilt time for your brain to recover to a large extent. Having said this it is important to remember that it may take one to four weeks to recover completely after the last dose.
As stated above prescription is often issued keeping the best interest of individual patient and generally safe for the intended period. Considering this please be assure that you are safe and limited use of xanax will not cause anything permanent from for you.
I hope this clarifies further.
Thanks and regards.

Hello,
Thanks for follow up.
Loss of energy is not the effect of reducing dose of xanax but numbness and feeling of sleep paralysis can be contributed by withdrawal symptoms of xanax for couple of days or for few hours in some individuals.
Having said this it can be considered withdrawal effect of xanax itself and these are self limited. There is good possibility that by every passing day these will be reduced in intensity.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks and regards.
